Blue is not my favourite colour, but it looks OK with some pink and purple in this project file.

I do love having empty spaces to show off some quilting, and I prefer to not use feathers. I like feathers, but prefer to see formal designs with either bubbles, squiggles, straight lines or cross hatch filling in the background around both the formal quilting designs and the applique.
One thing I do not like is to see all over quilting which has no real relationship to the pieced or applique on the quilt top.
read moreAustralian native Banksia flowers come in quite a few different varieties … this is based on one of them.

I like both of these designs, but if I was going to make either I would probably change something about them. At the moment there are just half a dozen quilt designs in this project file, but that will change once I hit the publish button for this post!
read moreIt is raining a bit which means the state flower of South Australia will be growing, and then flowering in dryer areas of the state.

Including Sturt Peas on a quilt is one way to keep them in order … in the wild they are not so tidy,, but are spectacular when in full flower.

Less blocks in the second design, but would still at least think about machine embroidery!
read moreNew month, new project file, which started when I was drawing the leaves and added the outer leaves flopping down a bit and meeting when I repeated four of them around the centre.

I like the second design, and like the floppy leaves alone to fill an otherwise empty space.
read moreWith spring showing on the calendar, I hope to see a burst of florals in the garden, and in the native bush nearby.

My favourite today is the second one!
